Bewusstsein und Bewegung in der Gegenwart
Our mission is to preserve shared cultural and environmental heritages and promote democracy through education and collaborative arts-based cultural production, specifically designed for project locations and which include the expertises of community partners and participants and to promote arts-based economic and community development at the local, national, E.U. and global levels.
The Kunstverein Mitwelt exclusively pursues non-profit purposes.
Its aim is to promote art and culture as well as cultural education in accordance with § 52 para. 2 no. 5 of the German Fiscal Code. The association supports artistic projects, rehearsals, performances and formats of encounter. It strengthens art, culture and collaboration while creating spaces for creative exchange. At its core is the development of relationships between people, art and Mitwelt. This includes securing and developing a site as a public space for contemporary art, music, dance and cultural education.
The Kunstverein Mitwelt works in a project-based and site-specific manner. Artistic, social and spatial practices are not developed separately but brought together in cooperative processes. In contrast to purely participatory approaches, the association focuses on cooperation: participants contribute their respective skills and perspectives and take part in the shared development of formats.
The work of the association includes:
artistic research and development
interdisciplinary collaboration
public formats and processes
site-specific projects
The association is currently in development. It emerged from artistic work in the Tanzsaal in Berlin-Tegel, where initial formats between dance, space, perception and artistic research were developed. The association creates a structural framework to sustain, expand and make this practice publicly accessible in the long term. It understands itself as an open structure that continuously evolves through its projects, sites and collaborations.
